Kick-off menu and update on opening

Burrasca the food cart will roll into being with four dishes. We hope you’ll like them.

Pappa al pomodoro $5

classic thick tomato-bread soup (vegan)

Gnudi $7

gnocchi made with spinach and ricotta in tomato sauce (vegetarian)

Inzimino $7

tender morsels of squid simmered in spinach, tomato, red wine and herbs

Arista panino $7

sandwich of roast pork loin and watercress topped with salsa verde, on a homemade roll

Future menu items will include things like ribollita, bruschette con cavolo nero (we’re big on black cabbage/kale in Tuscany ;-) ), panzanella, polenta al sugo, zuppa di farro, polpettone, crespelle alla fiorentina, zuppa lombarda. Prices will be in the $5-8 range. Watch for updates and future postings.

Making a do-it-yourself international move with family in tow is not for the faint-hearted (try doing it in the Florentine heat, too, and on the heels of a robbery), and we’ve had our hands full this past month settling in, finding housing and getting the cart going. A born handyman, Paolo is doing just about all the work on the cart himself, including refurbishing and installing new equipment. We should be in operation within two weeks, pending inspection. We will post Opening Day updates both here and on the Burrasca Facebook page (please “like” if you haven’t already!).

Grazie–we look forward to seeing you.
